Our first invited craftsman guest was Angéla Kocsis from Mosonszolnok. Angéla has prepared a self-developed textile recycling technique to show for us. She brought us carpets and small bowls made with a sewing machine. A zigzag pattern is apparent on the surface of these objects and it constitutes an integral part in their structure as well.
During the workshop it was possible to try out and practice this circular sewing method, which anyone can replicate at home with a sewing machine. Based on the stiffness of the textile threads, the objects can be formed either two or three dimensional, so a flat carpet or a spherical bowl can be made.
Our aim with the technique is to make a co-operative carpet together with the Artcyclers, which we hope to exhibit in the closing International Showroom.
